Santa Barbara High School

A regular walking destination just across the street, our neighbors for the half century we have lived on East Anapamu! We first were renting and then the owners sold us our home...  now more than 52 years, a full Maya calendar round.

View of Main Building, a designated landmark

The walk takes up on stairs with elevation gain and flat, flowers and boulders with plaques.

Here you can see his navigation!

He crossed Anapamu mid street to see the abandoned vehicle in the high school  parking lot.

It's a Mustang and it is still there.  Why?

Walking around the green near the vehicle
entrance to the high school

Her he is going up the stairs, while the next trip he is going down the stairs.  Good exercise and efforts.

After the stairs thers is a ramp that goes down to Canon Perdido

Either way it is a challenge to negotiate... up elevation, down care in the position and balance.

Here he is passing the HS tennis courts
on Nopal

He enjoys his walks and the chance to inprove his stamina.

His long walk takes him u Alta vista to Michelterrena.  This is a good steep climmmmmb and tests his endurance. The uphill challenge is rewarded with the downhill stroll on Michelterena towards downtown  He moves to Olive and back to Anapamu and home.

This is our neighborhood.

He starts his walks heading to Alta Vista

Crossing streets, maneuvering over uneven sidewalks, and finding sunny areas for warmth are his plans as he traverses the selected route.

He is still using the cane for security.  This cane is a loan item and we look forward to the time he is more secure and we can return it!  At home he is confident and rarely uses it.

Traffic on Olive and Anapamu can be unsettling.  I prefer to use other streets myself, but the route is part of the stretegy. Mike aims for two walks a day plus the home exercize assigned by his PT.

On the home stretch!
