Daily tasks, Doctors' appointment, and Inspiring Visitors

Mike does his exercise and daily retrieval of the mail and

has a chance to catch up with visitors.

Our mail comes very late in the day so we wait until the next day to fetch it.

We used to have a ordinary mailbox, but we are near the high school and the county bowl, and we found a certain level of security would be helpful.

We sometimes walk all the way down the hill to discover we forgot the key!

Extra excercize!

Because the recovery from the cancer treatments has been difficult, we have begun to try different remedies.  I have found that Probiotics are recommended (he has had to take so many Antibiotics!).

We were recently referred to an acupuncturist. Mike has found it all very relaxing.

Brian Barbier recently joined  Mike for lunch.  He works in the Anthropology Department of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. As you can imagine, they have much to share.  Brian knows the owners of Buena Onda and bought a delicious selection of empanadas Argentinas that they enjoyed!

Of course, much of the conversation revolved around California archaeology.

Our latest visitor, Scott Fedick, came in all the way from Rhode Island.  We have known Scott since the mid 70s and he has worked with me in Guatemala and Belize.

He also joined some of Mike's California projects, notably at Vandenberg. He brought the book about that work to get Mike to sign it and to note that he is on the cover!  He is easily recognized: of all the heads down, he is the one with the cowboy hat!

The book is available for $132 on Amazon!

Scott has been very generous in coming out this week.  I had wanted to attend the Society for American Archaeology meetings in Denver, and was unsure how I could leave Mike.  Scott perceived this and asked Mike if he would mind if he joined him while I was in Denver.

This kindness is so very much appreciated.  Mike and Scott have much to share and they are enjoying the chance to be together.  We thought of some events that might be enjoyable, and they went to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History to a reception and talk at the Maximus Gallery
