Santa Barbara High School

A regular walking destination just across the street, our neighbors for the half century we have lived on East Anapamu! We first were renting and then the owners sold us our home...  now more than 52 years, a full Maya calendar round. The walk takes up on stairs with elevation gain and flat, flowers and boulders with plaques. Here you can see his navigation! He crossed Anapamu mid street to see the abandoned vehicle in the high school  parking lot. It's a Mustang and it is still there.  Why? Walking around the green near the vehicle entrance to the high school Her he is going up the stairs, while the next trip he is going down the stairs.  Good exercise and efforts. After the stairs thers is a ramp that goes down to Canon Perdido Either way it is a challenge to negotiate... up elevation, down care in the position and balance. Here he is passing the HS tennis courts on Nopal  He enjoys his walks and the chance to inprove his stamina. His long walk takes him...

A Day in the LIfe ....

Image
Mike's routine has weekly changes with appointments with ophthalmology, infectious disease, cardiology, dentist, urology and his weekly physical therapy. Morning at PT with Kevin starts with warming up on the stationary bike.  Then he moves to other exercises, including pushing up, so he can work on getting up the ground He takes at least 2 walks a day... He walks around the neighborhood. Exercises at home.... And snoozes! here with Kitty on his lap! And of course getting the mail!

Weekly Routine

Mike is walking 2x a day, doing home exercises, and going to PT 2x a week.   This is all to work on his physical conditioning, strengthening his limbs, and improving his balance and stride. The day starts with breakfast around 8am, and he is still using the magnifying glass to read the comics and the paper.  The hyperbaric therapy has changed his eyesight.  They suggested that it would come back to his original eyesight after several weeks but it has been a month now.... and he still cannot see well.  So we will be going to the  ophthalmologist  on Monday to see what they suggest and perhaps get a new refraction.   After breakfast, he may rest in his recliner chair, and when Maria comes, they go out for a walk. They are getting to know the neighborhood, up Alta Vista to Micheltorena on to Sola. Or across the street, through the High School, and back on Nopal.   There are variations on those themes.  ...
